NHS

Tarkett UK had the privilege of collaborating with AHR Architects in the design process for the northern home of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) at The Spine in Liverpool. This £35 million landmark development, commissioned by Liverpool City Council, not only embodies innovative design but also aspires to be one of the healthiest workplace environments in the UK.

The architectural and interior design, thoughtfully crafted with the health and well-being of RCP users in mind, incorporates biophilic elements to infuse the essence of nature throughout the building. The unique layout and design of The Spine serve as an ideal backdrop for leading healthcare professionals, fostering innovation in a collaborative and partnership-driven atmosphere. The natural color palette, inspired by the development of a tree, transitions from earthy tones on the lower floors to greener hues and patterns, culminating in blues on the upper floors.

In our commitment to creating collaborative, organic spaces, Tarkett and AHR prioritised the selection and design of all flooring and wall products throughout the building. My contribution to this project involved choosing organic tones that positively contribute to human health and well-being while championing the planet's health through the use of circular products. The specified DESSO AirMaster Earth, Desert AirMaster, and Arable collections effortlessly provided the desired natural tones while featuring Tarkett's innovative fine-dust capturing technology—four times more effective than standard carpet solutions. These flooring solutions not only enhance hygiene but also reduce cleaning costs and ensure extreme durability, setting a standard for designing spaces that promote health and well-being.
