Putney

Nestled in the sought-after locale of Putney, this captivating Edwardian house underwent a transformative refurbishment, evolving into a functional and inviting home tailored for a growing family.

Responding to my client's desire for expanded living space on the ground floor, along with the addition of a media room and home office on the second floor, the project involved demolishing the existing conservatory. A single-storey rear extension was erected to craft an open-plan layout on the ground floor, while two dormer windows were strategically added to the roof to accommodate the envisioned media room, office, and bathroom. The inclusion of a summer house/gym in the back garden further enhanced the property's overall value.

In line with the major layout changes, the design brief emphasised incorporating some existing furniture, leaving room for future upgrades. To pay homage to the period features, I chose to either repair or replace traditional flooring, while soft white canvas walls provided a neutral backdrop for vibrant artworks supplied by the client. The intention was to fashion a versatile space that could evolve with the children's growth, allowing for constant adaptations. The introduction of classic plantation shutters, coupled with industrial crittal doors, struck a perfect balance, creating a harmonious juxtaposition of interior styles.
